I am student and teacher of alignment based yoga, informed by decades of study and practice within the schools of Anusara and Iyengar yoga.

Having spent 22 years living in Asia, my teaching is also informed by the foundational principles of Buddhism and various schools of yoga philosophy including Samkhya, Kashmir Shaivism and Sri Vidya.

*I believe that Yoga is a way of being in the world, that yoga is a life long practice, that we both embody and eminate.

*I believe that a class should be carefully considered, thoughtful, aspirational, challenging and inspiring and that all students should feel safe, seen and cared for.

*I believe it doesn’t matter if can't touch your toes, because a “good” yoga student is about the quality of attention you pay, not how flexible you are.

*I believe that within our body we have untapped wells of strength, fortitude and compassion.

*I believe that your yoga practice is sacred, that it should support you, nourish you, inspire you and challenge you.

*I believe that there is more than just one way to practice and that there is much to learn within the various lineage practices.

*I believe that physical practice can lead to great insight and clarity when performed skilfully.

*I believe that students should look for a teacher who is highly qualified, has many years experience and maintains a steady practice.

*I believe that Yoga (like life) is a journey that is endlessly interesting, confounding, exhilarating,  unpredictable, sometimes completely ridiculous, and at times infuriating, but leads us toward the truth of our being- which I believe- is ultimately good.

My classes are fun, challenging, and thoughtfully sequenced. I teach that yoga is a state of radical aliveness, one which can be touched with clear direction and clarity of action and intention.

I challenge my students to become present to the moment as it is, (which is an endlessly challenging endeavour) in order to cultivate insight and mindful compassion towards oneself and others.

As a teacher it is my aim for my students to experience and explore the delicate balance between the rigorous strength and precision of the alignment based practice and the expansive freedom found within it.

I believe wholeheartedly that yoga is a transformational healing modality with enormous potential for all beings, and it is my great joy to share my love, passion and understanding of this profound practice with my students.

May all beings be happy

May all beings be healthy

May all beings be free from suffering

May all beings live with ease

Namaste
